We enable sustainable buying for companies and consumers so that their buying decisions based on trusted data result
in a proven positive impact for people and the environment in product supply chains.

The Founders

ImpactBuying is a social enterprise that was founded by the owners Marjan de Bock-Smit, Leontien Hasselman Plugg and Anton de Bock – three purpose-driven entrepreneurs who share the vision that buying power should have a positive impact on the lives of people and the environment. They are convinced that making money and doing good must and can go together.

All three play a role in the success of SIM Supply Chain that was founded in 2009. SIM became the market leader in Supply Chain Transparency and delivers the technology and validation teams to provide retailers and brands with “data you can trust, report and act on.”

Marjan: “Trusted supply chain data is a start for companies to make the transition from compliance to a positive impact that can be proven. In a world where quarterly financial results are key and the KPIs of buyers are not related to sustainability goals, we decided to develop a new product portfolio to help our clients to make a positive impact that can be proven and communicated: ImpactBuying.”

Leontien: “We know that there is a growing group of consumers who want to ‘put their money where their mouth is’, but in the jungle of labels, how can they make a choice?! We know that there is a growing group of CEOs and CPOs who want to ‘walk the talk’. But as long as their KPIs and incentives are rarely connected to sustainability or proof, let alone to positive impact, nothing will change.”

Anton: “Financial results of a company is key, you cannot be sustainable if your financial results are under pressure. We understand that we had to come up with concepts that contribute to the EBITDA of retailers and brands while adding value to all participants in the supply chain, including those who need it most.” The product portfolio from ImpactBuying bv helps companies to be financially successful and do good at the same time.

 Opening of an office in Germany

In May 2021, one year after founding ImpactBuying we opened an office in Germany to create proven positive impact in the supply chains of German retailers and brands. The new country manager Michael Goebbels contributes with a sound knowledge of the food retail and wholesale sector, corporate finance and sustainability.

Michael: “The German retail market is a huge lever to create proven positive impact in local and global supply chains. With reliable data and concrete projects we will help to turn data into information and to communicate about proven positive impact.”
